Big projects, small projects, they’re all good. Anything from patio and porch covers, to decks, room additions, homes, and barns.
Taking an idea from a sketch on a piece of paper and turning that idea into a full set of Construction Drawings - Blue Prints ready for contractor bids and submission to the City County Building Departments for permits.
Thanks for stopping on my Web Site!
I want you to know that I love drawing houses and just about anything to do with residential drafting, I always have. On a piece of scrap paper or cardboard, it doesn’t matter. For some reason, taking an idea and putting it to scale just seems satisfying.
I started drafting in high school and the thought of a desk job scared me to no end. So I didn’t pursue drafting as a career, but it guided me towards carpentry and other professions. So, forty some years later and I still love drafting!
My Qualifications:
Studied carpentry for one year at Madison Comprehensive High School (Vocational School) Mansfield, Ohio.
Studied carpentry for one year and graduated Pickens Technical College, Aurora, CO.
In varying degrees from assisting in design to design to carpenter to general contractor, several projects over the years from decks, basement finishes and remodel projects. Two homes for my family and I was Designer and General Contractor for two Spec. homes.
A few years ago, my brother-in-law, Mike Milburn - General Manager at J-Tech Construction asked me to assist in the design and to perform the drafting of his new family home. It was a whole new experience drafting for someone other than myself that has been priceless! Mike’s family has a wonderful home, and it gave me a start doing something I have loved doing for years as a hobby.
I was then asked to assist in the design and perform the drafting of a beautiful home and barn for Jason and Nikki Olberding, the owners of J-Tech Construction.
Since then, I have performed drafting for J-Tech projects when they need the services of a draftsman. I have also performed drafting projects for other contractors such as Matt Thomas, Owner of Silver Creek Builders, and other families and friends.
I don’t know everything there is to know about construction, but have far better than average knowledge and have been a good study. I have learned more than I ever could have imagined over the past few years. Every project presents its own set of challenges. Thus, also a learning experience.
In school, I was taught drafting with pencils, straight edges, and three-sided scales. I have a nice collection of these tools. In today’s world these tools are all but obsolete.
I use Chief Architect’s professional CAD drafting software and it is an amazing program!
I have a large format printer and it allows me the ability to print most projects from my office. It's a great convenience for all parties.
I have a Laser Transit and other necessary equipment for measuring Grade Elevations (in most situations).
I conduct myself in a professional manor and take immense pride in the projects I am involved with.
About me personally,
I’m an Ohio native, my family moved to Colorado in 1979. I moved from the Denver area to Lincoln in 1989 and married my sweetheart! We have two adult kids. We have one granddaughter, and have plenty of grand critters! We enjoy spending time with our twin goddaughters, camping, fishing, kayaking and some travel when time allows.
My full-time job,
I’m a professional truck driver with nearly 30 years at the same job. I’m home every day and my work schedule has allowed me the ability to pursue many interests over the years such as construction and drafting.
My goal is simple,
To be able to continue drafting for others. To draft and deliver a professional high-quality set of drawings to my clients in a professional manor.
Thank You,
Miles
